PHOTO trigger 1 – source: unknown.
I saw this in a stationery shop on the floor by the photocopier. I asked the assistant where it came from as I loved it so much! He didn’t know and said that he had a customer who often took in old magazine photos to be blown up. I asked for a copy and he kindly obliged.
I keep looking at the photo and find myself wondering as to what the story could be? What the older lady is thinking?
I just love the fact that a photo can capture a thousand stories and set our imagination racing.
So, what do you think the story is here? What is the older lady thinking? What is the younger lady thinking? Please share your thoughts in the comments area below – I want to hear a few of ‘those’ stories!
Please share via the links onto Social Media! Thank you.
And if you do happen to know where this photo was originally published please do let me know so I can source it correctly.
Thank you Wendy Webb for the first contribution – ekphrastic poetry ! You’re a star.
SHADES OF DREAMS by Wendy Webb
She has a future way beyond her ken
and mother/grandma knows that way back then
she was the same: all heart, and hope, when pain
was far away as distant tides. Again
she’s thinking of a private moment, thought
that none – except her age – have seen or bought:
their dreams, their moments. No-one else can know
caressing (like a movie star’s) won’t show…
and mother/grandma could not guess that night;
gazing out to sea, chill breeze, her flight
waiting for the morning, sails to shoal
beyond horizons of her life, grown whole
and grandma smiles to see such beauty/youth
and modern dress; clear brow so full of truth.
They are the same, those generations meet
with courage/pride and laundry’s nearest seat.
